Branch Spotlight – Woodland

Woodland branch: Ann Welsh, Hannah Smith, Gabby Palm, and Nicole Severson

Nicole Severson – Branch Manager

Describe your approach to leadership and how you inspire your team. I see my approach to leadership as focusing on building relationships among our team members. Such as having a supportive work environment where questions can be asked consistently.  Through a cohesive foundation and fun atmosphere, no one should feel uncomfortable or unenthusiastic about coming to work each day.  Then, empowering my team to take initiative and claim responsibility and ownership of any errors allows each team member to grow and learn the ever-changing aspects of the banking industry. Thus succeeding beyond their abilities.

How do you contribute to the professional growth of your team members?

  • Promote training and development by assigning extra courses and offering cross-training activities to broaden the team’s customer experience skillset.
  • Encourage constructive feedback – my door is always open for everyone to feel heard and appreciated and to help with personal growth.
  • Goal setting during staff one-on-ones to push the limits of my team to become more successful and engaged with one another and our customer base.

Gabby Palm – Universal Banker

How do you ensure that our customers receive the best service? Knowing the regular customers by name! I am able to answer any questions they have to the best of my abilities and help connect them with other associates in the bank when I am not able to answer. I also focus on completing transactions in a timely and efficient manner.

How do you contribute to a positive team culture? I let my team members know I am here to help them with whatever they need and provide feedback in an uplifting manner.

Hannah Smith – Teller

Ann Welsh – Teller

What makes you proud to be a part of this organization? I’ve been with the bank for 25 years. I’ve worked with many new people within the bank and our customers. The change and growth that we’ve been through over the years is what makes us who we are today and will help shape our future. I am proud to be a part of NBC. Finally, I love my job, and everyone who makes it what it is.

How do you handle change and challenges in the workplace? Change is always happening; keeping an open mind and taking it one day at a time is key. Ask for help and advice! Find ways to work with the ever-changing landscape of banking and life in general.
